About this tour

Bhrigu Lake located at an elevation of 14,100 ft in Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh, India; involves moderate climb green meadows. Situated to the east of the Rohtang Pass and is around 14 kilometres from Gulaba village. The lake can be reached by trek from Gulaba village. This beautiful yet a moderate trek will lead you to Rohilikohli campsite. From Rohilikohli it takes another 4 hours to reach Bhrigu. The lake is named after Maharishi Bhrigu, one of the seven great sages (Saptarshis). As per the myth, the rishi meditated here. Even after being at 4,200 meters, the lake never gets completely frozen.

How to reach base station:

By Bus/taxi: Take a bus headed towards Manali from Delhi/Chandigarh and get down at Patlikuahal stop(20 km before Manali) and take a taxi to Rumsu. Taxi charges are Rs 500-700 per vehicle (7 seater)

Free Pick Up facility is provided by Kailashrath Treks till 9 AM for Rumsu base camp at Patlikuhal.

 

Itinerary

Day 1 - Report at Rumsu base camp

Up on reaching Patilkauhal, pick up facility is available till 9 am to Rumsu base came. All the participants will undergo registration process. After breakfast; proceed for acclimatization walk.  Later come back to the campsite for lunch. Post lunch there will be a general orientation on techniques and awareness. Overnight at Rumsu base camp

Day 2 - Drive to Gulaba and trek to Camp 1

Start the day with healthy breakfast; right after get ready for a jeep ride to Gulaba. Up on reaching Gulaba; the trek will commence towards Camp 1 via the beautiful green meadow leading through the forest. Overnight at Camp 1

Day 3 - Trek to Rohlikohli

Start early with a good breakfast and proceed for the trek to Rohlikohli. The trek to Rohlikohli takes up to 5 to 6 hours to ascend. This moderate trek will take you through scenic locations with two streams called Chor Nallah and Kohli Nallah. Once you reach Rohli Kohli campsite you will realise the beautiful view of Solang valley. Overnight at Rohlikohli

Day 4 - Trek to Bhrigu Lake

Start early with a breakfast and proceed for the trek to Bhrigu Lake. It takes about 4 hours to trek to Bhrigu Lake. You will come across beautiful nature and stunning locations to capture pictures. A packed lunch will be given to you up on reaching the lake, enjoy your lunch by the lake and be mindful to not litter the surroundings. This holy lake is supposedly where Rishi Bhrigu meditated and takes bath. After spending sometime, start descending to Rohlikohli campsite. Overnight stay in the tents at Rohlikohli

Day 5 - Descend to Gulaba and Departure from Manali

After a scrumptious breakfast; start descending to Gulaba. This easy descend takes about 3-4 hours and up on reaching Gulaba; you will be driven to Manali for departure.

Things to Carry

Trekking shoes: Do not carry a Sports Shoe. Carry good trekking shoes with grip. Make sure it is a water proof trekking shoes with ankle support.

Three layers of warm clothes: Two or three-layer jackets, fleece jacket and a padded jacket

Two/Three trek pants: Carry light cotton trek pants. Avoid denim/jeans and shorts. They are not suitable for trekking.

Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit): It is advisable to carry a Full sleeved t-shirts to prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.

Thermals: Carry thermals (top and bottom).

Sunglasses: There will be lot of snow on the trek which can cause snow blindness. Thus Sunglasses are mandatory.

Cap: At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect you.

Water proof hand gloves: Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.

Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks: Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.

Headlamp/LED torch: Mandatory

Raincoat/Ponchos: At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall. Your poncho should protect you rain. Carry a backpack cover for extra protection from rain for your belongings.

Lunch box and water bottle: Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].
