About this tour

Friendship peak is one of the spectacular mountain ranges belonging to Pir Panjal situated at an elevation of 5200 m above sea level in Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded by various peaks such as Hanuman Tibba, Shitidhar, Indrasan and Deo Tibba, the summit offers a panoramic view of Pir Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges. The trek required good fitness and some trekking experience as the summit is quite steep on snow. One needs to use crampons and ropes at certain point in the trek.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Reporting at Rumsu base camp and Acclimatization walk.

Up on reaching Rumsu base came; all the participants will undergo registration process. Post lunch; proceed for acclimatization walk.  Later come back to the campsite for lunch. After coming back from the walk, there will be a general orientation on techniques and awareness. Overnight at Rumsu base camp

Day 2 - Drive to Solang Valley and trek to Lohali

After a lovely breakfast; proceed for a drive to Solang Valley. Up on reaching Solang valley, all the participants are required to start trekking to Dhudhi – the last motorable spot in Beas valley. From Dhudhi continue for two more hours to reach Lohali. This beautiful trek is quite easy which takes about 4- 5 hours from Solang to Lohali. Overnight in tents at Lohali

Day 3 - Trek to Lady Leg

Post breakfast; proceed to trek to Dhudhi. The trek is a moderate climb for about 2 – 3 hours. Up on reaching Dhudhi; have some packed lunch at Lady leg camp site and rest for a while. Post lunch; proceed to visit Beas Kund, it takes about an hour to trek from Lady Leg. Proceed back to Lady leg campsite for overnight stay.

Day 4 - Acclimatization at Lady Leg

After a good breakfast; all the participants will proceed for acclimatization walk wearing Koflach shoes to advance base camp. The trek from Lady leg to Advance base camp is about 2 hours; that lies just below the snout. After a while; descend back to Lady leg for overnight stay.

Day 5 - Trek to Advance base camp and Cramponing

Start a day with a good breakfast; the participants will proceed for a trek to Advance base camp (ABC). After lunch the participants will engage in cramponing on glacier. Overnight in tents at ABC

Day 6 - Summit Day

The summit starts very early at about 3 am and it takes about 6 – 7 hours to reach the summit. The descend starts at 10 am and takes about 4-5 hours to reach Lady Leg. Overnight in Lady leg

Day 7 - Descend from Lady Leg

Today will be the last day of the trek, were the descend will start from Lady leg to Solang valley. Up on reaching Solang, all the participants proceed for a jeep ride from Solang to Rumsu base campe for overnight stay.

Day 8 - Departure

After a lovely breakfast; all the participants will bid adieu to each other and catch bus leaving to Delhi/Chandigarh from Manali.

Things to Carry

Trekking shoes: Do not carry a Sports Shoe. Carry good trekking shoes with grip. Make sure it is a water proof trekking shoes with ankle support.

Three layers of warm clothes: Two or three-layer jackets, fleece jacket and a padded jacket

Two/Three trek pants: Carry light cotton trek pants. Avoid denim/jeans and shorts. They are not suitable for trekking.

Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit): It is advisable to carry a Full sleeved t-shirts to prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.

Thermals: Carry thermals (top and bottom).

Sunglasses: There will be lot of snow on the trek which can cause snow blindness. Thus Sunglasses are mandatory.

Cap: At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect you.

Water proof hand gloves: Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.

Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks: Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.

Headlamp/LED torch: Mandatory

Raincoat/Ponchos: At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall. Your poncho should protect you rain. Carry a backpack cover for extra protection from rain for your belongings.

Lunch box and water bottle: Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].
