About this tour

Patalsu peak is a popular peak in Manali valley which every beginner must attempt. The trek starts from Solang Valley and it involves a steep ascend from Solang valley. It is definitely worth because of the mesmerising views one gets from the top.

How to reach Rumsu Base Camp?

By Bus/taxi: Take a bus headed towards Manali from Delhi/Chandigarh and get down at Patlikuahal stop(20 km before Manali) and take a taxi to Rumsu. Taxi charges are Rs 500-700 per vehicle -7 seater

Itinerary

Day 1 - Report at Rumsu base camp

Up on reaching Patilkauhal, pick up facility is available till 9 am to Rumsu base came. All the participants will undergo registration process. After breakfast; proceed for acclimatization walk.  Later come back to the campsite for lunch. Post lunch there will be a general orientation on techniques and awareness. Day 2 - Trek from Solang to Shagadugh

Post breakfast; drive to Solang valley as the trek commences from Solang valley to Shagadugh. The trek from here is a moderate ascend that goes through thick green pine forests and oak trees. This forest then leads to a wide open green meadow locally known as Shagadugh. Up on reaching, set up the tents. Overnight in the tents at Shagadugh

Day 3 - Trek to Patalsu peak

Start the day with a scrumptious breakfast and leave for the trek to Patalsu Peak from Shagadugh. The trek is a moderately steep ascends for the peak. Up on reaching the top, you will come across a panoramic view of various peaks such as Shitidhar, Friendship and Manali peaks. The view is absolutely stunning and quite mesmerising. After clicking some pictures and start descend to Shagadugh camp. Overnight in the tents at Shagadugh

Day 4 - Descend to Solang Valley; Departure

After breakfast; start descend to Solang valley from Shagadugh camp. Up on reaching Solang, all the participants will be transfers to Manali by a Jeep. Book your buses back to Delhi/chandigarh after 5 pm.

Mandatory Documents for the trek

Medical Certificate (signed by a registered MBBS doctor)

NOC form (by trekker)

Original and photocopy of government photo identity card-(Aadhar card/Driving License/Passport)

Things to Carry

Trekking shoes: Do not carry a Sports Shoe. Carry good trekking shoes with grip. Make sure it is a water proof trekking shoes with ankle support.

Three layers of warm clothes: Two or three-layer jackets, fleece jacket and a padded jacket

Two/Three trek pants: Carry light cotton trek pants. Avoid denim/jeans and shorts. They are not suitable for trekking.

Three t-shirts (collared/dri-fit): It is advisable to carry a Full sleeved t-shirts to prevent sun burns on the neck and arms. Carry one or two dri-fit t-shirts.

Thermals: Carry thermals (top and bottom).

Sunglasses: There will be lot of snow on the trek which can cause snow blindness. Thus Sunglasses are mandatory.

Cap: At high altitude, the sun is extra harsh so carry a cap to protect you.

Water proof hand gloves: Carry water proof gloves and avoid woollen gloves as they will get wet if you touch snow.

Socks (3-4 pairs) and a pair of woollen socks: Apart from two sports socks, you can take a pair of woollen socks for the night.

Headlamp/LED torch: Mandatory

Raincoat/Ponchos: At high altitudes, snowfall and rain are quite common and it’s mandatory to carry a poncho so that you don’t get wet. The trek will continue as planned even during rainfall. Your poncho should protect you rain. Carry a backpack cover for extra protection from rain for your belongings.

Lunch box and water bottle: Every participant should have their personal lunch box and a water bottle [insulated type].
